Does The Thunder Drive Your Dog Crazy?

Some simple steps that may help brought to you by the friendly health care team in South Grafton at Riverbank Animal Hospital. Your local veterinary Clinic:

  1. Keep your pet in a confined area during storms. Some pets panic and try to escape from the back yard. We recommend you keep all pets indoors during storms to prevent escape or injury.
  2. Leave the radio or TV on to help drown out the thunder. Shutting blinds or curtains also helps with this.
  3. Some pets feel safer in a small confined dark cubby. A blanket placed over an indoor dog crate, which your pet can then retreat to, may help to keep them calm.
  4. Why not ask us today about progressive desensitization programs that may help to stop your pet from being scared by thunder?
  5. Anti Anxiety medication may need to be prescribed if your pet’s fear is extreme. A consultation with your vet is required for this. Phone us now for a consultation if you are concerned about your pet’s wellbeing during storm season.

For further assistance on this or any other pet related issue please contact Chris and the team at your local veterinary clinic in South Grafton Riverbank Animal Hospital. We care for your pets all day every day!
